Beth and Kevin (and of course Pete) dropped Charley and
Lizzie at our campsite and we got a chance to spend some time with all of them
before Beth, Kevin, and Pete left to return home. We didn’t do much sightseeing
while we were there – there wasn’t much nearby to see – but Rich and the kids
fished several times during our week there and the kids went with me to the
laundromat and grocery store. Charley
had a project for school to complete and he also had to finish a community
project, which he did well on. Rich boiled some green peanuts and the kids were
enjoying their first taste of boiled peanuts – I think they would have had them
every day.

For the second week, we moved to the R. Shaefer Heard
Campground on West Point Lake, GA (another Corps park) and did more fishing (no
luck, though) and the kids played in the hose to counteract the high
temperatures. We took one day to go the
University of Georgia-Coca Cola Science and Space Museum in Columbus and that
was a hit.
